Zevachim 72

ZEVACHIM 71-72 - sponsored by Harav Ari Bergmann of Lawrence, N.Y., out of love for the Torah and for those who study it.

(a) We learned in our Mishnah that if one Chatas ha'Meisah that falls into many Kasher Korbanos, they must all die.
What is strange about this ruling?

(b) How do we initially answer this Kashya?

(c) Orlah and K'lai ha'Kerem normally become Batel in two hundred.
Then why does Rebbi Meir, in a Mishnah in Orlah, say that bundles of Tilsan (fenugreek - a kind of spice or legume) of K'lai ha'Kerem are not Bateil in two hundred?

Answers to questions

(a) According to the Chachamim, the only six 'fruits' that do not become Batel are nuts from Perech (possibly coconuts), pomegranates from Baden, sealed barrels of wine, young mangold (a type of beet)-shoots, a cabbage of Eretz Yisrael (which used to be as large as a tree) and a Greek gourd.
Which food did Rebbi Akiva add to the list?

(b) To which of these does the Isur of ...

  1. ... Orlah apply, but not K'lai ha'Kerem?
  2. ... K'lai ha'Kerem apply, but not Orlah?
(c) Rebbi Meir learns 'es she'Darko Limanos', which is how Rebbi Yochanan interprets it.
What is Resh Lakish's version?

(d) What are the ramifications of their Machlokes?

(a) The initial answer to our Kashya conforms with Resh Lakish's version of Rebbi Meir in the Mishnah in Orlah.
Why does it not conform with Rebbi Yochanan's version?

(b) Rav Papa establishes our Mishnah according to the Tana of Litra Ketzi'os.
What is 'Litra Ketzi'os'?

(c) What does that Tana hold?

(d) What does he mean when he adds 'Afilu bi'de'Rabbanan'? Why is Litra Ketzi'os only mi'de'Rabbanan?
